I understand the success as a Multi-Media Journalist rests heavily on individual performance, requiring self-motivation and a sincere work ethic.
I am currently a reporter and Sunrise anchor/producer with WHIZ-TV in Zanesville, Ohio.
As a reporter, my responsibilities include writing multiple stories a day for the 6 and 11 o'clock newscasts, writing and uploading video to the web, and providing radio updates for the sister stations, Z92-FM and AM1240. As Sunrise anchor/producer, my responsibilities include delivering the 6 a.m. newscast, copy editing and producing content by utilizing local stories, NBC's Video On Demand, and the Associated Press.
Before reporting with WHIZ-TV, I produced a show named "Moving Forward" which airs throughout the University of Akron and on WVPX-TV in Cleveland, Ohio. I worked under a strict deadline in which I organized, generated and created a new show each week, all the while excelling in university-level classes and a part-time job.
I have also gained broadcast experience through internships at WHIZ-TV in Zanesville, Ohio and at WBNS- TV in Columbus, Ohio. My dedication to the field can be recognized in the four-hour round trip I made three times a week from Akron to Zanesville during the course of my internship. Though it was arduous, the commute was worth the experience.
My education in news broadcast consists primarily of three years of work as a reporter and anchor for The University of Akron's Z-TV News Source. In my time at the University of Akron, I have helped contribute to the show, which has been recognized for its excellence, including an Emmy Award nomination, the Videographer Award of Excellence, and the Communicator Award for Best Newscast. I have also had my work submitted to the Ohio Student Television Network.
As a Media Production and Radio/TV student, I have taken a variety of courses which have furthered the knowledge and skills needed to succeed. I have the experience and knowledge base that will enable me to be productive now.
